Why does an Altivar Process drive display an INFL error (Internal error 21), and how can I fix it?
Resolution:
INFL is a real time clock fault. This could be caused by a communication error between the keypad and the drive.
To reinitialize the communication, follow these steps:
- Power off the drive.
- Disconnect the keypad from the VFD and remove the battery of the keypad (you can find the battery at the bottom of the keypad under the plastic cover).
- Re-connect the keypad (without the battery).
- Power on the drive.
- If the INFL (INF21) fault is no longer displayed, power off the drive, reinstall the battery in the keypad, and power the drive back on.
- If the fault reappears after resetting the clock, or if any other INFL fault is reported, replace the keypad battery and test again.
- If the INFL (INF21) fault remains active, test the keypad (VW3A1111) on another drive and/or connect a known-good keypad to the affected drive.
- If the fault follows the keypad and a known-good battery is installed, replace the keypad.
- If the previous troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, update the drive firmware to one of the versions listed below or a newer version.
- For ATV600: Download and install firmware version V4.6IE47
- For ATV900: Download and install firmware version V4.6IE42
- For ATV340: Download and install firmware version V4.6IE39
