Variable speed drive Altivar Process ATV600 – Introduction to the PID application function

The PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) application function in the Altivar Process ATV600 allows the drive to automatically regulate a process variable (such as pressure, flow, or temperature) by adjusting motor speed based on feedback from a sensor.
The following video provides an introduction to the PID function:

In ATV600 applications:

A sensor (e.g., pressure transmitter 4–20 mA) provides feedback
The drive compares this value with the setpoint (reference)
The drive automatically adjusts motor speed to keep the process stable

For example:

In a pumping system, PID can maintain constant pressure regardless of flow demand
The drive increases or decreases speed to compensate for system changes

The drive is therefore able to adapt its output automatically based on feedback signals
