Issue:
Do any of the overload relays directly break the motor lines to a motor?
Product Line:
Overlaod Relays - GIC Product
Environment:
US Product
Cause:
Product Application
Resolution:
Overload relays are not designed to directly break the power connections running to the motor. The relays are designed to open their normally closed relay contact when an overload is present. In a standard design, this normally closed contact is run in series with the contactor coil. When the contact opens, the coil loses voltage, drops out, and the contactor itself breaks the power connections to the motor.
