Video: What can cause an NLP drive state on ATV630 or ATV930 drives?

Resolution:

NLP (No Line Power) indicates that:

  • The control circuit is energized (24 VDC present at P24–0V)
  • But no main power supply is detected at the input terminals (L1, L2, L3)

This condition may be normal or intentional, depending on the system design.

Possible causes and checks:

  • 🔌 No input power:
    • Verify that the main power supply is present at L1, L2, L3
    • Check upstream breakers, disconnects, and wiring
  • ⚡ DC bus not energized:
    • Measure the DC bus voltage between PA+ and PC-
    • Expected value: approximately Line Voltage × 1.414. If no voltage is present, the DC bus is not powered
  • If input power is present and DC bus voltage is correct, but NLP remains:
    • Possible issue with the power board
    • Possible issue with the control board
  • Confirm that Isolation contactors are working adequately.

Technical note:

For drives with Frame Sizes 7A and 7B, the DC choke is shipped mounted on the same pallet but not connected. This inductance is required for proper drive operation, and if it is not connected it can cause NLP.

  • If installation space allows, connect the DC choke according to the instructions in the ATV600/ATV900 installation manuals.
  • If space limitations prevent installation of the DC choke:
    • Install a power jumper between terminals PO and PA/+ and install a line reactor.

It is recommended to contact Technical Support for guidance and validation before implementing this last option.
