Why is my ATV630 drive not following the analog speed reference or ramping to speed?

Resolution:

Several factors can prevent the drive from following the analog speed reference or ramping correctly. Common causes include a missing or incorrect analog signal, improper configuration of the analog input type or range, or the drive referencing the wrong speed source. In some cases, preset speeds or other functions may override the analog input. Additionally, the drive may not be in the correct operating state, which can also prevent it from responding as expected.

Follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue:

1.- Verify the Analog Signal

  • Go to I/O Map (4.10) → Analog Inputs Image.
  • Confirm the drive is receiving the expected signal.
    • Example: If 10V is sent to AI1, the display should show ~10V.

2.- Check Analog Input Configuration

  • Navigate to:
    Complete Settings → Input/Output → AI/AQ (Menu 5.11)
  • Ensure:
    • Input type matches your signal (e.g., 0–10V or 4–20 mA).
    • Minimum and maximum values are set correctly.

3.- Confirm Reference Switching (if used)

  • Check the Digital Input Map.
  • Ensure the correct digital input activates the intended reference.
    • Example: If using a Hand/Off/Auto switch on DI3:
      • Verify DI3 changes state when switching modes.
      • Measure ~24 VDC between DI3 and COM when active.

4.- Check for Preset Speed Override

  • Navigate to:
Complete Settings → Generic Functions → Preset Speeds
  • Ensure no preset speed is overriding the analog reference.

5.- Review Auto/Manual or PID Reference Settings

  • If configured, confirm the correct input is selected for speed reference.
  • Verify associated digital inputs are switching properly.

6.- Verify Drive Status

  • Ensure the drive displays “Run” on the HMI.
  • Check for “CLI” (Current Limit) status:
    • Indicates the motor is drawing excessive current, preventing normal ramp-up.
