Resolution
The S as opposed to an M is used for branding purposes. In fact, the equipment has no differences (other than the first letter of the part number).

The S stands for Square D and is typically used in applications in the United States.

The M stands for Merlin Gerin - a company that was acquired by Schneider Electric in 1992. In 1994, Merlin Gerin and Telemecanique merged into Schneider Electric SA. Merlin Gerin's products, services, and solutions were migrated to the Schneider Electric brand as its Electrical Distribution offer. This international version (part number beginning with an M) is mainly used in applications in Europe and some parts of Canada.

Note: On some datasheets, there is an option for P. This stands for the Power Measurement brand.
