How Do You Enable “Catch on the Fly” on an ATV31 or ATV312 Drive?
Resolution:
Catch on the Fly allows the ATV31/ATV312 drive to restart smoothly when the motor is already rotating, preventing abrupt stops or mechanical shock.
How to Activate Catch on the Fly (FLr)
- Power on the drive and wait until the display shows RDY.
- Press Enter to access the menu.
- Scroll to the FLT (Fault) menu and press Enter.
- Scroll to FLr [Catch on the Fly].
- Set the value to YES to enable the function.
What Catch on the Fly Does
When enabled, the drive estimates the motor speed at restart and resumes operation smoothly before accelerating to the target speed. This applies after:
- Loss of line power or power-off
- Drive reset or automatic restart
- Freewheel stop
The motor speed synchronizes automatically, then follows the programmed acceleration ramp.
Important Requirements and Notes
- Requires 2-wire control configuration:
- 2/3 wire control (tCC): 2 wire (2C)
- 2 wire type (tCt): Level (LEL) or Forward priority (PFO)
- Each run command may experience a slight delay (up to 1 second).
- The function is automatically disabled if brake control
[Brake assignment] (bLC) is enabled.
Available Settings
- NO (nO): Catch on the Fly disabled
- YES: Catch on the Fly enabled
