ION8650C not communicating with ION Setup using an optical probe at 57000 baud rate

Issue
ION Setup does not communicate with a new batch of ION8650 meters using optical proble at 57000 baud rate while older batch of meters don't exhibit the same problem. There is no problem at slower baud rates.

Cause
High speed communication, as such ION Setup needs to be slowed down.

Resolution
Interbyte is to slow down communications (mainly for modems/optical probes which can’t handle fast data transfer).

When trying to communicate with the device, in ION Setup (Single Device Mode) make the following change:

- Select 'Serial' connection type (since an optical probe is being used)
- Click on 'Setting' button and select 'Timings' tab
- Change the InterByte setting to 5 (default is zero)
