Can SoMove Monitor Multiple Altivar Process Drives Over a Modbus Network?
Resolution:
Yes. SoMove can be used to monitor multiple drives over a Modbus RTU network using a multipoint connection.
The drives can use their built-in Modbus RTU communication, so an additional gateway is not required for this configuration.
To set up the network:
- Assign a unique Modbus address to each drive.
- Connect the drives in a daisy-chain Modbus network.
- Compatible connection cables include:
- VW3A8306TF03: 0.3 m (approximately 1 ft)
- VW3A8306TF10: 1.0 m (approximately 3 ft)
- In SoMove, configure the scan as Multipoint.
- Configure the appropriate register range to be monitored.
Each drive on the network must have a unique Modbus address so that SoMove can identify and communicate with the individual devices.
