Why does my M580 or M340 crash after adding a BMXXBE1000 module?

Issue
Can not connect using Unity Pro or Control Expert. M580 is in a failed state.

Product line
M580, M340

Resolution
The most common reason for this behavior is an unterminated bus. If the XBE module is installed, it must be fully terminated. This means that it should have both ports connected. The top port of the XBE in the main backplane should have a terminator marked 'A' on it. The bottom port should have an extension cable connected to the top port of the XBE on the expansion backplane. The bottom port of the XBE in the expansion backplane should have a terminator marked 'B' on it. If any of these four ports is disconnected from either the terminator or cable, the CPU will crash. Even if the expanded backplane is powered down, the cables and terminators must remain in place.

I addition to the above, make sure that the switches on the XBE module match the rack it is installed in, for the PLC rack it is 0 then the next rack is 1 and so on.
