Masterpact and SEF/SED Protective Tape Over the Arc Chutes

Issue:
When should the protective tape over the arc chutes be removed?

Masterpact NT/NW and SEF/SED

Resolution:
The protective tape should be removed after installation.  Protective tape is placed over arc vents to keep debris out of circuit breaker. Do not remove tape prior to installation. If the tape is not removed and left on after installation, there is no serious concern; the tape has a minor effect on heat.  If the breaker needs to open due to a fault condition the tape will simply blow off.
