What is the difference between the EX and newer EXN series Transformers?

Article available in these languages: Spanish

Issue:
For the EX and EXN transformers: What are the differences?

Product Line:
Low Voltage Transformers

Environment:
EX and EXN

Resolution:
The main differences between the EX and EXN transformers are dimensions and the need to add a drip shield for NEMA 2 applications.

EXNs, introduced in 2019, feature a consolidated enclosure concept which will standardize all enclosure sizes within a kVA family. EXNs are 15-150 kVA.  Larger sizes remain EX Transformers. The EXN dimensions will be different than the EX line and will no longer have various enclosure sizes based on any given part number.  Example: EXN75T3H, EXN75T3HCU, EXN75T3HF, EXN75T3HB, EXN75T3HNLP will all have the exact same enclosure size and M Style.  The related accessories will all be the same for that specific KVA rating.
Once you know the KVA rating, the EXN enclosures and accessories will be the same for the given KVA rating.
