Transformer sound levels

Product Line:
LV Transformers

Environment:
Applies to Low Voltage Transformers by SquareD/Schneider Electric

(Refer to page 25 of the attached bulletin).

Transformers are allowed, by NEMA standards, a certain amount of normal operating sound level which varies with kVA size. If you think your Transformer exceeds these allowable limits then contact your local Schneider Electric Distributor.  There is no dependable or safe way to reduce the actual sound level of the transformer at the job site. However, sound can be amplified by reflecting hard surfaces near Transformers. Acoustical treatment of these surfaces, or reorientation of the Transformer can sometimes reduce objectionable noise. Schneider Electric can offer an engineered, reduced sound level Transformers on a special order basis. Contact your local Distributor for more information.
