What jumper strap kit is required for using 2510M & 8536S starters on single-phase applications?
Issue:
2510 dummy heater

Product Line:
NEMA Starters and Accessories

Environment:
North American Products

Resolution:
Jumper strap kits are for use on 3-phase manual or magnetic starters with melting alloy (not bimetal) overload relays only, when a standard 3-phase starter is to be used to control a single-phase motor. These kits include two jumper straps, a wiring diagram showing how to wire the 3-phase contoller to control single-phase motor. A thermal unit selection table is also included. A single phase motor only requires one thermal unit for proper protection. The following outlines the selection based on NEMA size:

Class 2510 sizes MO, M1, & M1P - Class 8336S sizes 00, 0, 1, & 2 uses 9998SO31.
Class 8536S sizes 3 & 4 uses 9998SO32.
Class 8536S sizes 5, 6 & 7 - kits are not available.
