What is the little slide switch on the bottom of the X Series connected device Wi-Fi dimmer used for?

It is called an air gap switch and it physically disconnects any power from reaching the lighting load that is connected to it. UL requires the air gap switch for safety reasons.
We recommend sliding the air gap switch left to "off" prior to changing any bulbs controlled by the dimmer.
The dimmer is not connected to the Wi-Fi network when the air gap switch is in the off position.
Please refer to the connected home offer for more details.
