Product Line
PM600 Series meter (PM600, PM620, and PM650)
PM800 Series meter (PM810, PM820, PM850, and PM870)

Environment
End of commercialization and recommended replacement.

Cause
The PM600 series meter (PowerLogic Power Meter Class 3020) is obsolete, therefore it needs a recommended replacement.

Resolution
The PM600 series meter is one of the PowerLogic Power Meter Class 3020 with three models: the PM600, PN620, and PM670. The PM600 series meter supports Modbus or Jbus protocol with RS-485 with 4-Wire Communications Standard; it can also be wired with 2-Wire Modbus or Jbus. See the attached user guide on page 111 for wiring instructions.
According to the following features, the following are the differences between PM600 series meter models:
  • PM600 -> Instrumentation, 0.3% accuracy,
  • PM620 -> PM-600 features, plus date/time stamp, THD/thd, neutral current, demand values,
  • PM670 -> PM-620 features, plus alarms, min/max values, data, and event logs. See Power Meter Feature Comparison table on page 11 of the user guide. The display is optional. Thus, the PM600 has a remote display with many mounting options. See the user guide on pages 19 - 24. Click FA291891 for PM600 user manual.
The above information and more detail in the user guide give us the background to determine its actual replacement because it is obsolete. Back then, it was replaced with the PM800 series meter, which is obsolete too, therefore its actual replacement will be consequently to its model with the PM5000 series meter (See part number METSEPM5563RD) or the PM8000 series meter (See part number METSPEM8244). For detail look at the following FA211902 and FA305464 .
Note:
The PM5000 series meter or PM8000 series meter does not have the same form factor than the PM600 series meter. Also, for RS-485 communication standard for the PM5000 or the PM8000 series meter supports only RS-485 with 2-wire but has Ethernet capability.
