Masterpact MTZ Primary Injection Testing Procedure

Issue: A Field Testing and Maintenance Guide for Masterpact MTZ is not published yet in North America.  Meanwhile this FAQ is established to address this primary injection topic.
Product Line: ACB Circuit Breakers
Environment: Masterpact MTZ

Resolution:
Even though only secondary injection is required for Masterpact MTZ, since it has self diagnostics for the CT's and tripping chain, some customers have primary injection specified for acceptance testing.  The following is the recommended method to primary injection test a Masterpact MTZ circuit breaker.
1. Use the "Automatic Trip Curve Test" feature within the EcoStuxure Power Commission (EPC) software.  This will test the performance of the control unit protective functions.

2. Use "Prepare For Primary Injection Tests" feature within the EPC software to assist with the primary injection testing.  This will disable ground fault, thermal imaging and alarming while the testing is conducted.

3. The Primary Injection Test will ensure the overload LED comes on between 105% and 120% long-time pickup current for each phase as stated in the primary injection testing section of the Masterpact NT and NW maintenance and field testing guide, document number 0613IB1202. This will confirm the metering of the tripping chain.
