Can each Serial RS-485 port on ION9000 communicate independently?

Issue
ION9000 has dual separate RS485 serial ports COM1/RS485 #1 and COM4/RS485 #2. Is it possible to configure meter in a way that each RS485 port communicates independently?

Resolution
ION9000 as well as ION7650 have 2 separated serial ports that each can be used independently to communicate with upstream or downstream devices.

Examples include but not limited to when ION9000 meters are configured as serial Modbus Slave devices polled by two different Modbus Master software applications:
