How do I update the firmware of my SRTG 15 & 20kVA UPS?

Issue:

SRTG 15 & 20kVA UPS requires a firmware update.

Product Line:

Smart-UPS models SRTG15KXLI and SRTG20KXLI

Environment:

• Computer with Windows 7 or Windows 10 operating system
• The USB A to USB B type communication cable supplied with the UPS
• "UPS-UpdateToolInstaller.zip" file - available at the end of this document
• "15-20k V1.19 20220909.zip" Firmware File - available at the end of this document

Resolution:

NOTE: The UPS system is expected to power down during the firmware upgrade. It is recommended to turn off the load connected to the UPS before starting the firmware upgrade.

Preparation:

1. Connect the USB A to USB B type communication cable supplied with the UPS cable between the UPS and computer.
   • 
2. Download the "UPS-UpdateToolInstaller.zip" and "15-20k V1.19 20220909.zip" files attached at the end of this document.
3. Extract the "UPS-UpdateToolInstaller.zip" file.

Installing the Update Tool:

Double click the "UPS-UpdateToolInstaller.exe" file to start installing the update tool.

1. Select OK.

2. Select Next.
   • 
3. Select Install.
   • 
4. Ensure that the "Launch UPS-UpdateTool" option is selected, and then select Finish. This will launch the update tool.

Updating the UPS Firmware:

1. Select the language: English.
   • 
2. Select the appropriate port number where the USB cable is connected to the computer.
   • 
3. Press "select" and browse to the location where the "15-20k V1.19 20220909.zip" file was downloaded in Preparation Step 2.

4. Ensure both check boxes are ticked:

5. Select Updating:

6. The update may take 15-20 minutes. Once the update is completed, the update tool can be closed:

Verifying the firmware version

Use the UPS front panel to navigate to the following menus.

1. Press the OK key to enter the Main Menu, press the ▼ key to select Configuration and press the OK key to enter the submenu.

2. Press the ▼ key to select Display, and click OK to enter the submenu.
   • 
3. Press the ▼ key to select the Menu Type, and click OK to enter the menu type selection screen.
   • 
4. Press ▼ key to select Advanced, and press OK to confirm.

5. Press ESC key until you return to the Main Menu.
6. In the Main Menu, press the ▼ key to select About, click OK to enter the submenu.

7. Select UPS and click OK to enter the submenu.

8. Press the ▼ key to view firmware component versions.
