What is Suffix A for NEMA Starters?

Need to find out the meaning of A/A* Suffixes for NEMA Starters

Resolution:

The suffix A stands for factory installed Start-Stop Button.

The type of button used may vary depending on the enclosure type and series of the starter.

Pre Series K, NEMA 1 Enclosed Class 8536, 8538, 8539 starters use the 9999SA2.

Series K or later NEMA 1 Enclosed Class 8538, 8539 Combination Starters use 9999SA3.

For starters and combination starters that are NEMA 12/3R Enclosed, it uses 9999SA3 also.

Note: Part numbers with A suffix are commonly custom made products.

Other A Suffixes followed by a number can also be encountered. Here are other options:

A1 - Forward/Reverse/Stop push buttons
A2 - High/Low/Stop push buttons
A3 - On/Off push buttons
A4 - Wired for Start/Stop push buttons
A5 - Start/Stop dual function push button
A6 - Start/Stop push button
A9 - Fast/Off/Slow push buttons
A10 - High/Low push buttons
A11 - Addition of push button
A12 - Stop push button
A13 - Fast/Slow push buttons
A16 - Push on/Push off Push Buttons
A17 - Push buttons on EM starters
A18 - Push buttons on EM starters
A19 - Non-standard push buttons
