The EM3570X series meter “IP address and Subnet are read-only”.

Cause
Unlike the other Powerlogic Meters, the EM3570X series meter doesn’t have the front display capability to configure the IP address and Subnet (Ethernet settings).
Resolution
Communications-wise, the EM3570X series meter IP address and Subnet are read-only from its front display because the meter doesn’t have that capability. The front display allows only enabling or disabling network settings like TCP/IP, BACnet, WebApp, and Modbus. Therefore, the only way to configure these Ethernet settings is through the Webpage, using the default IP address 169.254.YY.ZZ and subnet 255.255.0.0.
Here is the procedure:
- Identify Meter Information: Look at the top of the screen for the meter part number (METSEEM3570X), serial number (S/N: MEYYWW0ZXXXX), and MAC address (00:00:00:0A:YY:ZZ). Write down the last two bytes of the MAC address then convert them from hexadecimal to decimal to form the last two bytes of the meter default IP address 169.254.YY.ZZ.
- Install and Power On: Install the meter accordingly and power it on.
- Access Configuration Mode: Access the configuration mode.
Note: Or simply power the meter and read it default IP address and Subnet on the front display under
“Comm” but read-only.
- Then exit.
- Based on the information on (1) make the default IP address and the Subnet. For example:
- MAC address: 00:B0:D0:86:BB:F7 (hexadecimal) to 0:176:208:134:187:247 (decimal)
- Default IP address: 169.254.YY.ZZ will be 169.254.187.247.
- Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
- This confirms the default IP address and Subnet seen from the front display.
- Use a Laptop/PC, turn off your Wi-Fi, set up a static IP address and subnet in the same range as the meter, such as IP: 169.254.187.240 and Subnet: 255.255.0.0.
- Connect the meter and laptop/PC with an Ethernet cable. Open your command prompt (CMD) and ping the meter (e.g., ping 169.254.187.247) to test the connectivity. Refer to FA221345.
- From a Windows browser, access the meter webpage using the meter IP address, e.g., https://169.254.187.247.
- Use the default credentials: username (Administrator) and Password the meter MAC address without colons, but with letters capitalized, (For example: if the MAC address of the meter is 00:80:f4:02:14:38, then password is 0080F4021438). You will then be required to change the password.
Note: The password must contain between 8 and 16 characters, with at least 1 number, 1 capital letter, and 1 special character. Click "Apply Changes" to save your new password.
- On the Webpage -> navigate to Communication -> Select Manual -> IP Configuration. Enter the IP address provided by your network, the Subnet Mask, and the Default Gateway ->Check "Enable" for IPv6 -> Select "Manual" for DNS if needed -> Apply changes and Exit.
Note: Choosing Automatic, the Ethernet settings will be automatically obtained via DHHCP/BOOT.
