ETE - Knowledge - Sensor: Installation: External Temperature Sensor

The EcoStruxure Transformer Expert Intelligent Sensor requires measurement of both the Top and the Bottom oil temperature. This is important to determine the transformer's Thermal Gradient for the Temperature Model.

This affects the calculation of:

The EcoStruxure Transformer Expert probe can be inserted in either the top or bottom oil via a gate valve in the tank or pipe leading to or from the radiator.

The external temperature sensor should be attached on the opposite side. Therefore if the probe is inserted in the bottom oil then the external sensor should be attached at the top around a pipe or on the tank, so that it can get a reading of the top oil temperature.

Whichever way they are installed, it is important that one sensor is measuring the top oil temperature and the other sensor is measuring the bottom oil temperature.
