Can Micrologic X Class 1 metering be used for billing or revenue-grade applications?

Issue:
Customers want to know if the Class 1 metering accuracy provided by the Micrologic X control unit used with Masterpact MTZ breakers is suitable for billing or revenue-grade energy measurement.

Product line:

Masterpact MTZ, Micrologic X

Resolution:
No. The Micrologic X control unit provides Class 1 metering accuracy, which is designed for electrical system monitoring and operational energy management, not for billing or revenue-grade purposes.

Micrologic X Class 1 metering is intended for:

  • Power and energy monitoring
  • Load analysis
  • Power quality monitoring
  • Operational and maintenance decision support

Billing and revenue-grade applications require higher metering accuracy, ANSI Class 0.5 or Class 0.2, as defined by applicable standards and utility requirements. These accuracy levels are not supported by the embedded metering of the Micrologic X control unit.

Recommendation:
For billing or revenue-grade measurement, Schneider Electric recommends using a dedicated revenue-grade power meter that complies with ANSI Class 0.5 or 0.2 accuracy requirements (ION9000 series, ION8650 Series, PM8000 series), installed in accordance with local utility and regulatory standards.
