TM168 Replacement

-> Issue: TM168 Replacement

-> Product Line: TM168

-> Resolution:
The M168 PLC is obsolete and no longer offered. This is a very old product.

The migration path is to use one of the M172 PLC models based on the machine requirements. The M172 is not a direct replacement, meaning the program that is running in the M168 can not be loaded into the M172.

The program would need to be re-written for compatibility with the M172. Even if a used M168 is found, it is also worth mentioning that it won't be possible to extract the PLC project from the M168 PLC's.

These PLCs treat the internal project as the intellectual property of the OEM that programmed it. Meaning it is not possible to connect to an M168 PLC and extract the running program from within the device.

To attain a copy of the running program, people would need to contact the OEM that programmed the PLC and request a copy of the project.
