What is a dangerous electrical arc?
An electrical arc becomes dangerous when it appears in an unexpected part of an electrical circuit, such as degraded cables and connections.
In these areas, it can quickly ignite nearby materials, especially electrical insulators.
Below are some of the more common reasons an arc fault may develop:
- Trapped and/or crushed cables
- Rodent damage
- Pierced installation
- Damaged insulation
- Loose terminals
- Deteriorating insulation
