Lucknow, September 19, 2022: Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, has brought its pan-India roadshow Green Yodha Yatra to Uttar Pradesh for building a sustainable water network in the state. With the goal of demystifying sustainability in the water and wastewater (WWW) sector, the Yatra will serve as a discussion forum to talk about the need to adopt digital technologies for reducing carbon emissions.
Uttar Pradesh is one of the top farming states of the country. Water is a critical input for agriculture production, with more than 70 percent of freshwater being used by the sector. This creates a need for leveraging technologies and innovation for boosting the water management system in the state, while keeping sustainability at the core. Aligned with this, a conclave was organised in Lucknow wherein dignitaries such as Sh. Durga Shanker Mishra, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Sh. Amrit Abhijat, IAS, Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Govt of Uttar Pradesh, Sh. Balkar Singh, IAS, Managing Director, Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Rural), Government of Uttar Pradesh; and Sh. Indrajit Singh, IAS, Commissioner, Lucknow Municipal Corporation & CEO, Lucknow Smart City Limited discussed on the need to adopt digital technologies for building sustainable water network.
Sharing his perspective on UP’s focus on sustainability, Sh. Durga Shanker Mishra said, “Uttar Pradesh is transforming on the basis of sustainability models. Saving water is a top-focus for us. In line with PM’s ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign, we are now aiming to establish rainwater harvesting in the state. As agriculture is a water intensive sector, several efforts need to be taken to reduce water usage. We believe that leveraging technology & innovation can reduce the cost of farming through optimum use of water.”
Showing confidence in the potential of technology, Sh. Balkar Singh said, “In near future, technological innovations will be used in rural areas in a major way to manage use of water.” Adding to this, Sh.
