ClearSCADA's new WebX server installs differently depending on the version of ClearSCADA that you have:
Background
Starting with ClearSCADA 2015 R1, a new WebX server has been included in the ClearSCADA software package along with the original WebX client. This new WebX server utilizes the Internet Information Services Manager (IIS) in order to facilitate its connection. ClearSCADA users may choose to view WebX by way of either the original WebX client or by way of a WebX client connection to the new WebX server.
ClearSCADA 2015 R1 featured ClearSCADA Mobile and the new WebX bundled into a single feature. Bundling them together was found to be less flexible and reliable as opposed to having these features separated.
ClearSCADA 2015 R2 had both ClearSCADA Mobile and the new WebX separated, however the Mobile Companion still had to be tied to a Web server. Hence it was actually tied to the old Web server components and was installed along with it. This would be why it was not in the list as a separate feature in 2015 R2 (Control Panel | Programs and Features).
Starting from ClearSCADA 2017 the total separation of the two components was completed and the new WebX started to appear as a separate feature (in Control Panel | Programs and Features).
Installation
Prior to ClearSCADA 2015 R1, WebX installed quietly as part of the standard ClearSCADA installation (full or standard installation).
Starting with ClearSCADA 2015 R1, the installer runs through the installation of most of the ClearSCADA components first, then it runs through the installation of the new WebX component. The user is prompted to install the new WebX upon completion of the installation of the other ClearSCADA components (CS server, data access components, ViewX, etc).
A user simply needs to start the installation process by selecting the "Install ClearSCADA " option from the splash screen (valid for ClearSCADA 2015 R1, ClearSCADA 2015 R2 and ClearSCADA 2017). These screens look as follows:
Starting with ClearSCADA 2017 R2, the new WebX component installation has been moved to its own installer. This is covered in a separate knowledge base article; FA366071 ClearSCADA: Configuring the new WebX in ClearSCADA 2017 R2.
