Issue:
The unit trips on PHF1 (Mains Sync Error) after a run command.
Product Line:
ATS480, Altivar Soft Starter ATS480
Environment:
All
Cause:
NA
Resolution:
PHF1 is a Mains synchronization error. The probable causes and remedies are as follows:
• Unbalanced phases during acceleration and deceleration.
• Loss of a phase when [Phase Loss Monit] PHP is set to [No] NO (inhibition of phase loss by low current).
• Test motor too small. The minimum motor power required for the small motor is provided in the ATS480 manual.
• SCR failure (suspect this to be case if fault occurs immediately upon start - can verify SCRs by measuring resistance from L1 to T1, L2 to T2, L3 to T3. Reverse the meter leads and retest. When making this measurement one should see at least 50k ohms on all 6 measurements. If less, then suspect have a bad SCR in that phase.
• Verify all connections and any isolating devices located between the soft starter and the motor (contactors, circuit-breakers...).
• Verify the supply frequency stability.
• Adjust [Gamma Sync Error] TSC to set the threshold before this error triggers. The higher is the set value, the less sensitive is the synchronization monitoring.
Clearing the Error Code:
This detected error is automatically cleared with the [Auto Fault Reset] ATR or manually with the
[Fault Reset Assign] RSF parameter after its cause has been removed.
