Downloading Settings via Serial Port on SAGE RTU unit

Issue:

Customer wants to know if there is a way to download a settings file from a SAGE RTU unit using the serial User Interface port because the RJ45 Ethernet port is not available.

• SAGE RTU with RJ45 port unavailable
• Serial User Interface port accessible
• Need to retrieve configuration files for migration or backup

Cause:

The SAGE RTU unit does not provide an automated method for downloading configuration files via the serial User Interface port. The configuration consists of multiple files that require proper formatting to be usable on another RTU.

Resolution:

• There is no automated process to download the configuration via the serial port.
• It can be done manually, but note:
• The configuration is not a single file; it consists of multiple separate files.
• These files must be reassembled and formatted correctly to be recognized by another RTU.
• This process is error-prone, which is why the standard method was automated through the Ethernet interface.

Recommendation: If possible, restore RJ45 connectivity or use an alternative supported method to avoid manual errors.
