Resolution
A protected configuration is inaccessible to anyone who does not know the password. The system administrator is typically responsible for keeping track of the password and the list of authorized users. If the assigned password is lost or forgotten, you will be unable to change the islands configuration. If the password is lost and you need to reconfigure the island, you will need to perform a destructive reflash of the NIM.
That is, an Exec must be re-flashed to the NIM to reset the island.
