What is an SCF4 fault on ATV320 drive?

Article available in these languages: Czech

Issue:
ATV320 is tripping on SCF4.

Product Line:
Altivar 320

Environment:
All

Cause:
Shorted IGBT or motor issue

Resolution:
SCF4  [IGBT short circuit] indicates that there may be a power component failure or an issue in the motor/cables.
First disconnect the motor leads and then set parameter Output Phase Loss (CONF->FULL-> FLT-, OPL) set to NO.
Then reset the drive and attempt to start.  If the drive still trips on OCF4 then there is an internal issue and the drive will need to be replaced.

If the drive does not fault, then there is likely an issue in the motor and/or wiring.  Check connections in the motor, verify insulation in the cable.

In the US, contact the Drive Products Support Group at 888-778-2733, option 2 for Technical Support and then option 4 for AC drives and soft starts for further assistance.
