Troubleshooting: Micrologic 5.0P or 6.0P or H trip unit will not allow adjustment of the settings on the screen

Micrologic Power or Harmonic trip unit won't let me change the on-screen settings. What is the problem?

The trip unit settings cannot be adjusted via the menu buttons on the trip unit screen unless the trip unit cover (the cover that goes over th dials) is open.
