Is it possible replace a PRM without Control Expert?

Yes, it is possible.

In theControl Expert application, under PRM general settings, ensure the following options are checked and properly configured:

  • Create an entry for this device name in the DHCP server
  • Backup the PRM configuration in the FDR server on download

Once these settings are confirmed, follow these steps to correctly replace the PRM:

  1. Remove the PRM module to be replaced.
  2. Prepare the new PRM module:
    • Set its lower rotary switch to ‘E’ (Configuration file deletion) to clear any existing configuration.
    • Power up the new PRM and wait for the boot process to complete, then power it off.
  3. Match the rotary switch positions:
    • Check the rotary switch positions on the old PRM and set the new PRM identically.
  4. Install the new PRM:
    • Power up the new PRM in the same location as the old one.

The new PRM will boot and automatically retrieve its configuration file from the FDR server.
