How do I choose the correct PRP configuration file?

MCSESM PRP configuration files are named according to the number of Ethernet ports on the switch. For example:

  • MCSESM04 → For 4‑port managed switches (e.g., MCSESM043F23F0)
  • MCSESM08 → For 8‑port managed switches (e.g., MCSESM083F23F0)
  • MCSESM10 → For 10‑port managed switches (e.g., MCSESM103F2CS0)
  • MCSESM12 → For 12‑port managed switches (e.g., MCSESM123F23G0)
  • MCSESM16 → For 16‑port managed switches (e.g., MCSESM163F23F0)
  • MCSESM24 → For 24‑port managed switches (e.g., MCSESM243F4LG0)

Simply match the number in the file name to the number of ports on your switch.

MCSESR Switches

Currently, all MCSESR PRP switches are 4-port units, so the same file works for both models:

  • MCSESR043F2LM0
  • MCSESR043F23F0

For detailed instructions on loading configuration files into Modicon Switches, refer to the Modicon M580 Redundant Communication Adapter Module (PRP) for X80 RIO Drops Installation and Configuration Guide, starting on page 41.
