Cause:
Customer is unsure when they purchased the drive and needs to know in order to validate warranty.
Resolution:
The serial number includes a date code for the manufactured date. Schneider Electric sells to distributors who then sell to the end user. The end user must maintain proof of purchase, if needed, in order to return a failed drive under warranty. Standard warranty is 18 months from date of purchase. If the manufacturing date is less than 18 months old, then the drive is considered within the warranty period. If the manufacturing date code is greater than 18 months old, then proof of the purchase date must be provided in order to validate the warranty.
