PlantStruxure PES [V4.1]: What is the cause of error "ANY_BOOL is not supported on this PLC" at the time of Generate Control Project or Generate and Build Control Executable.
From PES V4.1 and the latest templates of Foundation and General Purpose library, PES Hardware abstraction layer supports “reference to / Pointer” mechanism for addressing the variables. Hence for a Boolean variable, data type are changed from “BOOL” or "EBOOL" to “REF_TO ANY_BOOL”. An ANY_BOOL type variable is declared as a reference, using the REF_TO keyword that combines BOOL and EBOOL types.
Further to support this ANY_BOOL type, user must have the following version selected for the CPU platform.
If the error "ANY_BOOL is not supported on this PLC" at the time of Generate Control Project which means the CPU version selected in Control Project is less than the minimum version specified above. To resolve this open Control Project in Refine and change the CPU version to latest available without modifying the CPU model and other configuration. Then save the Refine mode.
Secondly if the error "ANY_BOOL is not supported on this PLC" at the time of "Generate and Build" of Control Executable then it means that the CPU version in the Configuration created in Topology is not meeting the minimum OS version declared to support "ANY_BOOL" data type. Because when "Generate and Build" is performed for Control Executable, it merges the Configuration declared in Topology and Generated Control project to create a executable code. To resolve this you must update the OS version for CPU in Topology configuration to the latest available.
Further to support this ANY_BOOL type, user must have the following version selected for the CPU platform.
- Modicon M580 (OS version ≥ V2.00)
- Modicon Quantum (OS version ≥ V3.30)
- Modicon M340 (OS version ≥ V2.70)
