The ATV61 / ATV71 has LI2 assigned for run reverse. Why does the drive continue to run forward when LI2 goes high?

Article available in these languages: Spanish

Issue:
ATV61 / ATV71 has run reverse command assigned to LI2 but the drive continues to run forward when LI2 is activated, 2 wire control.

Product Line:
Altivar 61, Altivar 71.

Environment:
All models, All serial numbers.

Cause:
Drive is not responding to the command to run reverse.

Resolution:
In 2 wire control, logic input LI1 is assigned to run forward. LI1 must be removed when switching to run reverse via LI2 input.  If the drive receives a run reverse command on LI2 without removing the run forward command on LI1, it will continue to run forward.  The same logic holds true when switching from reverse to forward.
