How is managed the Time Synchronization in IEC61850 for the Sepam Range ?
How is managed the Time Synchronization in IEC61850 for the Sepam Range ?

In IEC 61850 communication the way to manage in Sepam Range the Time Synchronization is different of Modbus Communication.
Time Stamp for the Events, is only done via the the SNTP protocole.
There is not a simple bit to know what is the Global Status of Synchronization in IEC 61850 Protocol. In Modbus Protocol there are 2 bits set in the Control Word to checkTime Status
That is not requested by the Standard IEC 61850 to publish Global Bit for that.
There is not any Specific LN Logical Node dedicated to Time Synchronization in our .Icd Template.

Nevertheless for several information given by IEC 61850 protocole you have others added information on mean value like for example the q for quality status and t for Time Stamp.
So, the time stamps could give the status of the synchronization available for the events .

You could find the Time Stamp Attribute in the t field of the different LN.
Also for "t " information this t field contains the status given by the Bits CF and CNS which mean Time Synchronized or Not Synchronized and this one for each LN.

But attention in fact this Bit Position information is only changing or be correctly interpreted only when the event is also changing .

Actually that is not very reliable and certainly a little difficult to use this way to know the real Status of time Synchronization.
Nevertheless, I should advice If SCADA use the SNTP protocole to synchronize Sepam and others devices in 61850 to be next able to eventually use in the SNTP frame ( Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) the 2 bit called Leap indicators in the LI Field to know the real Status of the Time Synchronization.

In case of need, It is always possible thanks to our ACE850 to manage the Time Synchronization Status as the Same Time via the Modbus Control Word
