Altivar process has integrated DC choke (in fact 2 of them). Altivar Process is compact drive design by SE to comply the IEC61000 - 3 standard with out using any external line or DC choke. The Altivar Process specification confirms the harmonic THDi level is below 48% on 80% to 100% of load for ATV600/900 drive.
Line choke are not part of altivar process offer and it is not mentioned to be used with Alitvar process. If you use(from third party supplier), THDi level may go down but keep in mind that voltage drop on this choke can cause less torque and we can not guaranty full speed range of the application.
The acceptable harmonic level are mentioned in related standards IEC61000 - 3 (equipment leve - limit the harmonic to <48% ) and IEEE519(PCC level - limit the harmonic level to <5%). So in general, the requirement of line choke, DC choke, passive filter or AFE are decided based the harmonic standard to be complied.
