How to deal with unexpected Short/Close status of IO digital output during Installation of IO Module (LV434063)?

Possible cause:

Shock and vibration on bistable relays during transit

Affected product:

IO Module (LV434063) with firmware version 3.3.11 and earlier.


Solution 1:

Upgrade IO module to v003.004.005 using EcoStruxure Power Commission (v2.12.0.2007 and later).


Solution 2:

FORCE digital outputs to 1, then FORCE to 0, and then UNFORCE.

Procedure

• Using EcoStruxure Power Commission

  1. Open EcoStruxure Power Commission application software and discover your gateway device.
  2. Click CONNECT.
  3. Select Device Check Up tab and go to I/O Status tab.
  4. Select the respective I/O Module (I/O Module 1 or I/O Module 2) on the left side pane.
  5. Select the check boxes to select all three digital outputs of I/O module.
    • Digital Output 1
    • Digital Output 2
    • Digital Output 3
  6. Click FORCE TO 1.
    • You will be prompted to enter the password to perform this operation.
  7. Enter the password and click CONTINUE.
    • A “Success” message is displayed on the Test Result column.
  8. Select all three digital outputs of same I/O module again.
  9. Click FORCE TO 0.
    • You will be prompted to enter the password again.
  10. Enter the password and click CONTINUE.
    • A “Success” message is displayed on the Test Result column.
  11. Select all three digital outputs of same I/O module again.
  12. Click UNFORCE.
    • You will be prompted to enter the password again.
  13. Enter the password and click CONTINUE.
    • A “Success” message is displayed on the Test Result column.
  14. Refer to the snapshot (attached below) of the EcoStruxure Power Commission.

• Using FDM121 Display Module

  1. Connect FDM121 display modue.
  2. Navigate to Main menu and select Services.
  3. Navigate to I/O Module and select the module (I/O Module 1 or I/O Module 2).
  4. Navigate to Force.
  5. Press OK on Force and navigate to O1, O2, or O3.
  6. Select O1 and press OK.
  7. Select Force to 1 and press OK.
  8. Select YES and press OK.
    Result: You will be prompted to enter the password.
  9. Enter the password and press OK.
    Result: The status changes to 1F, which can be seen in front of O1 in the same screen or in Status menu.
  10. Select Force to 0 and press OK.
  11. Select YES and press OK.
  12. You will be prompted to enter the password.
  13. Enter the password and press OK.
    Result: The status changes to 0F, which can be seen in front of O1 in the same screen or in Status menu.
  14. Select UnForce and press OK.
  15. Repeat steps 6 through 14 to change the status of other digital outputs (O2 and O3) to complete Force to 1, Force to 0, and then UnForce.
