How do I configure and use Harmony XB5R/XB4R wireless pushbuttons?
1. What you need to know
Harmony XB4R (metal) and XB5R (plastic) pushbuttons are wireless and battery less: pressing the button generates the energy needed to send a radio frame to the receiver, which converts it into an output for a PLC input or a control circuit. No wiring and no battery maintenance are required. Configuration consists of pairing each transmitter with a receiver channel, then selecting the output mode.
2. How it works and how it is set up
The range is built on energy harvesting: the mechanical action of the operator generates the energy for one radio transmission. Only the receiver is wired and powered.
- Each transmitter sends a unique identifier, so a receiver only reacts to the transmitters paired with it.
- Transmitters can be mounted on moving or remote parts of a machine where cabling is impractical.
- Pairing and output settings are stored in the receiver and survive a power loss; output states do not.
