Is it possible to integrate Smartlink with KNX Metering Gateway MTN6503-0201?
The KNX Metering Gateway is mostly working with templates. You will only find templates for Schneider electric power and energy meters. There is no template for the Smartlink. This is due to the fact that the device was designed to integrate metering in our KNX solutions.
The product additionally allows to connect 40 data points from any other Modbus RTU device using the "device access to Modbus register". This could be Smartlink or a device from another manufacturer.
It is important to know that the KNX Metering Gateway is only able to read values from other Modbus devices. It is not able to write values to Modbus devices.
The user has to configure the Modbus address of the connected Modbus device. Each Modbus device has an address selector that the user has to configure. An example: if the user has two Modbus devices, he will set the first device to address 1, the second with address 2.
Next thing the user has to do is to enter the Modbus register address of the chosen data point. This information the user gets from the manual of the Modbus device. And he has the possibility to configure the kind of Modbus value (unsigned, float ...). As well he has the possibility to configure the KNX data point (group object) that is assigned to this data point (what type like 1-bit, 4-bit,1-byte etc.).
