Concept Ethernet Configurator v.2.0 Will Bootp a Reversed IP Address to a 170ENT11000/170ENT11002 Under Certain Conditions
Issue
The purpose of this resolution is to inform users of 170ENT11000 and 170ENT11002 that an IP address can be assigned reversed under certain conditions using the Concept Ethernet Configuration Utility version 2.0.

170ENT11000
170ENT11002
Environment
Resolution
A reversed IP assignment will occur when all of the following conditions are true:
- A version 2.0 Ethernet Configurator bootp server is active (running) on the network,
- an IP address is NOT assigned in the Ethernet Configurator table for the 170ENT11002,
- and the 170ENT11002 already contains an IP in its flash memory.
Bootp requests are initiated by the 170ENT11002 after a power cycle of the module. This bootp request contains the flashed IP address of the ENT in the CIADDR field. If the bootp server is running, it will automatically assign the CIADDR back to the 170ENT11002, but it reverses this address ! (A.B.C.D > D.C.B.A). Version 1.0 of the Ethernet Configurator does NOT assign the address back to the 170ENT11002 if an address is present in the CIADDR field.
The problem will not occur using version 2.0 if any one of the following conditions are true:
- an IP address is assigned in the Ethernet Configurator table,
- the 170ENT11002 does not contain an IP in its flash memory.
This issue has been resolved in the Ethernet Configurator Utility version 2.01, found in the Concept 2.6 SR5 release. The issue does not occur with version 1.0 of the Ethernet Configurator Utility.
