How to monitor and replace the ON board battery of the SCADAPack 47x device?

To monitor the On board lithium battery status.

1. Use RemoteConnect software
2. Under Configuration-SPx70 Controller>Objects Tab, select Add object button
3. Create an Object for the On board battery status. Name: RAM_Battery_Status, Object Grouping: Monitor RAM Battery; Data Type: Digital; Logic Variable Type: T_SPx70_BOOL; Source Type: System Data; System Data reference SYS_INFO: MemoryBatteryAlert, Click OK button. See details below

4. Create an Object for the On board battery voltage. Click on Add Object button
5. Name: RAM_Battery_Voltage, Object Grouping: Monitor RAM Battery; Data Type: Analog; Logic Variable Type: T_SPx70_REAL; Source Type: System Data; System Data reference SYS_INFO: MemoryBatteryVoltage, Click OK button. See details below

6. Press the Apply button and upload the updated program to the SCADAPack 47x device.
7. To monitor the objects, click Online button.
8. Under Online Diags - SPx70 Controller, click Add Entry button
9. Select Add objects currently in Group, Object Group: Monitor RAM Battery. Then hit OK button.

10. Select the Auto refresh every 5 second to monitor the RAM Battery Objects.

To replace the On board lithium battery in the SCADAPack 47x device.

1. Before replacing the onboard RAM back-up battery, save a copy of the SCADAPack configuration information, user-created applications, logs and other data to an external drive so it can be reloaded when the procedure is complete. Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
2. Removed power from the SCADAPack 47x device
3. Put on an anti static wrist strap and verify that it is connected to the ground
4. Remove the device cover
5. Squeeze and pull the battery clip

6. Gently remove the lithium battery from its socket
7. Insert the new Tadiran TL-2450/P 3.6V (Part number: TBUM297592) lithium battery.
8. Insert back the Battery clip.
9. Reattach the SCADAPack 47x device cover
10. Apply power to the SCADAPack 47x device and factory boot the controller by Hold down the RST button, Apply power to the SCADAPack x70. Continue holding down the RST button until the STAT LED stops blinking on and off and remains lit. Release the RST button.
11. Use RemoteConnect to reload back the RTU program.
