How do I configure an ATS48 soft starter to test a small motor?
Resolution:
To configure the ATS48 soft starter for testing a motor with significantly lower power than the starter’s rating, follow these steps:
- Go to the DRC (Drive Configuration) menu.
- Set the SSt (Small Motor Test) parameter to On.
What this does:
- Activating SSt allows the soft starter to safely operate a small motor during testing or maintenance.
- It automatically disables the CLP (Torque Control) function, which is not needed for small motor testing.
Important notes:
- Default state:
- OFF = Function disabled
- On = Function enabled
- The SSt parameter resets to OFF when control voltage is removed.
- After power is restored:
- The PHF fault setting and CLP parameter revert to their original configuration.
This feature is particularly useful when testing high-power soft starters with low-power motors.
