Does a fire pump circuit breaker need to have a red handle?

Issue:
How to identify a fire pump circuit breaker?

Product Line:
Molded Case and Miniature Circuit Breakers

Resolution:
No. The National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code Article, NFPA 72, indicates that a red nameplate needs to identify the fire alarm breaker. It does not require the handle, breaker, or lock off attachment to be red. See the following link for more information: Fire Alarm Circuit Breakers - Data Bulletin
