Could the obsolete Integral starter be used for single phase applications?

Due to single phase sensitivity of the protection modules, Integral Starters are designed for three phase applications. However, the overload module does not monitor phase angles. In a single phase application, the customer can wire 2 poles in series for one side of the load with the other side of the load returning thru the remaining pole.
