Video: How does a low amp, QO or Homeline, convertible main lug load center get converted to a main breaker load center using QOM1-VH main breaker kit?
Issue:
Converting QO™ & Homeline Load Centers from main lug to main breaker with the QOM1-VH Main Breaker kit.

Product Line:
QO and Homeline load centers

Resolution:
The QOM1-VH Main Breaker kit is ONLY used for the Low amp, 125Amp Max., Homeline Series S_ _ and QO Series G01, G02, S_ _ and Canadian Series T4 load centers.
DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM AMPERE RATING OF THE LOAD CENTER.
The QOM1-VH Main Breaker kit will accept (1) #12 - 2/0 kcmil Al/Cu wire, BUT to find out the maximum wire size permitted in the particular load center per UL/CSA wire bending space, see either the wiring diagram on the load center enclosure or the tables in the current digest under the heading 'Main wire size'.

Please verify all kit contents with the instructions that come in the Main Breaker kit and ONLY use the Main Breaker kit with the Load Centers Series numbers shown above and in the instructions.

The attached video is ONLY to supplement the INSTRUCTIONS that come with the kit. PLEASE make sure to read the instructions and all the below Safety Information that is located in the instructions BEFORE working on any electrical equipment.
A pdf copy of the complete instructions is attached below the video.

The QO and Homeline Convertible Main lug load centers that uses a QOM1 Frame size, can be converted to a Main Breaker load center for any of the Amperages that are available with the QOM1 Main Breaker Frame. The amperages include a 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110 and 125Amps (SEE THE CURRENT ON-LINE DIGEST FOR EXACT MB CATALOG NUMBERS.

NOTE: Another option would be to back feed a 2pole branch breaker as the main, of the amperage required for the application. BUT this will require the appropriate Retaining Kit for the catalog number of the load center for the back feed option. The back feed option will use 2 pole spaces of the load center spaces.

Danger label
Make sure to turn OFF ALL Power supplying the equipment and verify the power is OFF using a properly rated voltage sensing device, BEFORE working on or with electrical equipment.
Once all Safety steps are followed, begin the kit installation by following the instructions.
1) Remove Cover from load center.
MAIN LUG REMOVAL
NOTE: Refer to Figure 1 illustration located on page two in the instructions.
2) If Main wires are installed, loosen each wire binding screw on the two main lugs (B) figure 1 and remove the main wires
3) Loosen, remove and retain two mounting nuts (A) See Figure 1
4) Remove and discard the main lugs.

MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER INSTALLATION
NOTE: Refer to Figure 3 illustration on page 3 of the instructions and Please make sure the main circuit breaker ampere rating is appropriate for the load center rating.
1) Hook the main circuit breaker lip (A) under the retention tab (B) and Rotate the main circuit breaker into position. See Figure 3
2) Replace the two previously removed mounting nuts (C) Figure 3 and torque to 50-75 lb-in (6-8 N-m).
3) Insert the main wires into the main breaker (A) lugs. Torque the lug wire binding screws to the specifications shown on the main breaker label or wiring diagram located on the load center box
4) For load centers used as Service Equipment:
* apply the Service Disconnect label(provided) to the load center cover near the main breaker handle.
* install the appropriate bonding screw(provided)
5) For load centers NOT used as Service Equipment(a sub panel)
* apply Main label (provided) to the load center cover near the main breaker handle.
* DISCARD bonding screw
6) Complete installation following instructions in load center

NOTE: PLEASE MAKE SURE FOLLOW ALL THE SAFEY INFORMATION SHOWN BELOW AND NEVER WORK ON ENERGIZED EQUIPMENT.
