If busway has been exposed to moisture, how can it be determined if it can be energized?
Issue:
Busway exposed to moisture, how can it be determined to energize it?
Product Line:
Busway
Environment:
North America Products
Cause:
N/A
Resolution:
When testing an installed run of busway, NEMA requires the minimum Megohm readings be at least equal to the value obtained from the formula: Megohms = 100 divided by the length of the run in feet. Please note, however, when water has contaminated busway there is no sure way to ensure safe operation. It is our recommendation that all devices that are found to have less than the minimum required megger readings or devices known to have been subjected to water contamination be replaced.
