It depends on whether or not a neutral is installed. When a breaker is installed into one of these enclosures, there is a gutter on each side of the breaker. These gutters may be used either for installing a neutral or as wiring gutter.
-If NO NEUTRAL is installed, either or both gutters may be used for wiring, and the enclosure is approved for any combination of top/bottom feed and load.
-If a 100% NEUTRAL is installed, since one of the gutters is now in use, the other gutter is of sufficient size to accommodate all the line and load cables, and the enclosure is approved for any combination of top/bottom feed and load.
-If a 200% NEUTRAL is installed (M800S and M800R only), since both gutters are now in use, they may not be used as wiring gutter. Wires must enter and exit the enclosure from the endwall directly facing the lugs, which means the enclosure is restricted for top feed/bottom load or bottom feed/top load.
